Was it fate or chance that I happened to be where I was on that fateful morning?
For what happened to me came without warning.
I had packed all my things the night before
And I woke up that morning full of hope and so much more.
It was a bright new day.
As I prepared myself to be on my way
For this was the start of something new.
A moment in my life where my path was askew.
I was all dressed up and ready to go.
Where I was going, you will soon know.
Mom and dad were oh so excited,
Like a couple of kids who just couldn't hide it.
That was the moment they have waited for
And then there we were on our way out the door.
They walked me to the terminal gate
Funny thing, we were almost late.
Hugs and kisses all around
It was not long before we lifted off the ground.
Now it is time for you to know
I was headed to San Francisco.
After all my hard work and dedication
I was headed to a place that would be no vacation.
The boarding school was the best in the land
And even better was the beach and the sand.
It took a little while for my nerves to settle
I listened to calming music because I could not stand heavy metal.
Then all of a sudden I felt a jolt!
As the guy sitting behind me sat up with a bolt.
He bumped into my chair as he tried to stand up
I turned around to see what was up.
There was a group of men just out of sight
It looked as though they were in a fight.
At the back of the plane where I could not quite see
I noticed a man looked directly at me.
In his hand, there was something unclear
To see what it was I would have to get near.
I slowly stood up and thought to myself
“It was our choice to protect our self”.
This was the moment where I had to choose;
And at this point, I knew I had nothing to lose.
It was my choice to join in
For we could not let the terrorists win.
What happened after that was not up to me
All I know is I wished the world could see
That we did not go down without a fight
All those involved on that frightful flight.
The last words that I heard anyone say
Like a kid in a game ready to play.
Were shouted out loud by a man in the back
As a few brave souls surged forward in attack.
Some people would say
That we threw our lives away
But courageous actions saved countless more that September day.

Another plane has just crashed
It landed in a field by a farm house, in Pennsylvania.
None of the passengers have been identified yet;
Although we do know that this is the only plane,
So far
That has fought back.
After today's tragic events have taken its toll,
We can stand firm in knowing that Americans never back down,
But had the courage to stand and shout "Let’s roll"
My parents now know
That even though I did not want to go
I stood up that day and chose to embrace
My fate with a smile on my face.
For now you all know what happened to me
Was something that no one else could see
Except for my fellow brave souls on United Flight 93.
