Surrounded with no where to go
She hears the floor creak
Echoing down the hall
She tries to stay quiet
Afraid to move, afraid of what may happen!
Trying to hide her face
There is no shelter anyplace
That can escape his watchful eye.
She can see the anger in his eyes
Watching as the alcohol moved up his veins
She can see his heart beating lub-dub lub-dub
Watching it fill with rage like a fire from above!
As she kicked
and screamed
Asking for help
No one was there and
Her dad grabbed the belt Kapow!
Going to school bruised and shaken
No one knew what she went through
Hiding the fear knowing deep inside
All she wanted was to cry and hide!
Trying her best to keep her secret hidden
Knowing she couldn’t take it much more.
She couldn’t live like this
She couldn’t live this life
But,
As much as she tried
She couldn’t take her own life!
Her world was falling apart
Her heart numb and sore
She could feel her heart breaking
Slowly fading.
She hears the floor creak
Echoing down the hall to her bedroom door
Holding back tears before they could pour!
Waking up and thinking her life had just ended
Not knowing it was just her new beginning!
Her phone awakened with a mighty ring to call and say her dad had just passed.
So many thoughts raced through her head
Watching as her worries and cares disappeared
Standing there not knowing why!
Her father had drank that night
Causing the accident
That took so many lives
He would have been alive
If he didn’t drink that night
Now she is here not knowing why.
Was it fate that helped her get her life back?
Fate that stopped the continuous beatings?
And fate that kept her from dying?
