Fate: what should happen in the future.
Such a difference between that and what would be pure.
Opportunity: being available for the chance
Of a life that could be such a wonderful dance.
In my life, true to each routine I kept.
Instead of being one who wept.
My life is different from the rest . . .
I chose nothing but the best.
You see I did not start out like every other kid.
I just did not do what they did.
The first many years of my life
Were filled with an incredible amount of strife
I was a frequent visitor to the operating room.
So many thought my fate would be doom.
However, I saw all the opportunities ahead . . .
I got myself up from that hospital bed!
One of the coolest activities I have done in my life,
Was to raise money to save more than one life.
As a National Ambassador for the March of Dimes,
I was the top fundraiser out of kids from our times.
Swimming has been another favorite activity of mine.
I have worked very hard to be a swimmer that is fine.
As an athlete, I have learned nothing happens by chance.
Despite any natural talent, hours of workouts must enhance.
I learned how to work hard at Loris Middle School.
Judy Beard, the principal, was oh so cool!
The opportunities she put in place for us,
Helped me achieve the grade of A plus.
Mrs. Beard encouraged me
To be even more than I was meant to be.
ECHS has given me the opportunity to excel;
Fate and my efforts will determine how well.
