A girl, young in life, not knowing where to go
Drifting here to there, drifting to and fro
No future yet planned for, nothing to foresee
Not sure of what to do, not sure of her degree
She floated from school to school, learning as she went
Gleaning small bits of information, but came home to vent
For, in school, what purpose could there be?
So on to the next, another school she should soon see
Starting at home, she learned from her dad
Until, one day, she realized what she had not had
Her parents were considering sending her to private school
After consideration, majority ruled
So off she ventured, a new and exciting world to explore
Acclimating to the environment, she began to deplore
Gaining knowledge and finding herself
Collecting new books to put on her shelf
With all the changes, she felt confused
But then she realized she had nothing to lose
After a few years, a total of three
She was done with private school, finally free
Starting with public school, she really changed
The way she saw things rearranged
She was as motivated as a car with no fuel
They taught her more than the subjects in school
Her mind was vulnerable; public school had a bad effect
Her judgment became clouded, not quite correct
After one year, she started to perceive
The type of legacy she wanted to leave
Her mentality changed when she got the invitation letter
When thinking of Early College, her future seemed better
A hard decision, not easy to make
But after contemplation, the opportunity she would take
In this story, if you did not happen to see
The girl in this poem happens to be me
If you thought it was chance, you must have been misled
For it was by fate that I was lead
