The hurricane is coming
The boy and his family hiding in a house so unbecoming
They do not know what the outcome will be
The house was so small a family of rats could not live in it
Well, okay maybe that’s exaggerating it a bit
They so badly wanted to flee
But when they tried it was too late
Hey, who knows maybe it was fate
The boy heard the wind it sounded like a lions’ roaring
Out of the windows he could see branches, trash, and leaves soaring
BAM! He could not escape the disturbing noises of windows shattering and trees falling
They turn on the radio to see what is going on
The little boy and his family felt withdrawn
Withdrawn from their friends and family and wondering if they could get through this
As the night went on, the nightmare got worse
The dad wondered into the night, “was this some type of curse”?
Eventually the hurricane passes but the damage did not
They salvaged what they could and tried to find a new home even though it was a long- shot
The family eventually moved to Pennsylvania unsure about their lives
Their new house was a bee hive
A small house unfortunately with many lives within
One day their father came in with a slight grin
He announced they would move to South Carolina
They gathered the kids, the couch, coats, computers, and even the fine china
The boy was not a boy but a young man now
His transformation was amazing, his father even wondered how?
A year later the young man got a great opportunity
He was offered to go to Early College but was unsure of his ability
He decided to go for it and he got in
He wondered where this opportunity had always been
He now looks back at it all and does not regret a thing
His family is proud and all very supporting
“Was this crazy journey filled with up and downs fate”, he wondered?
He believes it is and now he knows that when it comes to making a better life it’s never… too late
